The role
The Senior Group Accountant will be a key part of the small Finance team at Corero, looking after all aspects of financial reporting within a listed group, and supporting with key internal reporting deliverables on a monthly and quarterly basis. This newly created role has come about due to recent growth within the company, and the need for the Finance team to be able to provide Management with greater visibility and access to data faster, well as to support the Group Financial Controller as a key technical accounting resource in the team.
Responsibilities
- Financial Reporting:
- Full ownership of the year-end financial reporting process with support from the Group Financial Controller including end to end production of the annual report and all disclosures, technical accounting papers to be presented to the Audit Committee, and ensuring the consolidated results are accurate and produced in a timely manner
- Primary point of contact for the group auditors, and management of the audit process from planning work commencing in October through to group and subsidiary audits
- Full ownership of the half year end financial reporting process and review with the group auditors
- Ownership of a number of month end processes.
- The Senior Group Accountant will work alongside two other members of the Finance team to deliver complete month end consolidated results. Areas of responsibility will involve flash reporting to the CFO, quarterly commission calculations, share option plan management and accounting, some day-to-day accounting management, and support in the consolidation process.
- Key technical resource in the Finance team to support the Group Financial Controller with any aspects of technical accounting which arise.
- Support to drive project implementations for a number of key processes to improve efficiency within the Finance Team and improve support to the wider business.
- Production of Audit Committee and Board papers for the Corero Board
- Support the Group Financial Controller and Company Secretary in any aspects of governance as required such a Board papers, Companies House requirements
- Ad hoc reporting and project delivery as and when required within a small, fast-paced an agile Finance Team
Requirements
- 5+ years’ experience in a listed group, with a strong understanding of reporting requirements
- Big 4 experience highly desirable, ideally in audit
- Qualified Chartered Accountant
- Experience owning production of the annual report in a small listed group, or working within a Finance team in a large listed group who own production of the annual report
- Experience owning and delivering month end processes to tight deadlines
- Experience working with external auditors
- A ‘can do’ attitude, being ready to get stuck into a small Finance team who is consistently delivering more, faster, better than ever before
- Experience and confidence working with and presenting to senior stakeholders (CEO, CFO, Audit Committee)
- Ability to adapt communication style when working with non-financial members of the company
- Excellent communication skills to be able to work across all departments at Corero.
